Rev. Felicia V. Black, PhD, Co-Founder & Director

Rev. Dr. Black is the Executive Director of Lillie B's House, guiding its mission with decades of experience in education, practice-based spirituality, and interspiritual literacy. Her work is centered on the identity development of Black and Brown women and their communities. The name “L.B.” not only honors her great aunt, Lillie Banks Black-Burks, but is also a personal nod to Felicia’s own family name—Lisa Black—linking generational memory to living action.

Background & Practice

She holds a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction, an Ohio Teacher Licensure in Early Childhood Education, and an Interfaith/Interspiritual Clergy certification and ordination. She has been recognized for outstanding teaching, mentoring, and service in both higher education and public school contexts, having conceptualized and taught courses in curriculum, pedagogy, human development, and research methodologies. At Lillie B's House and in her private practice, Rev. Dr. Black crafts community engagement experiences designed to advance equity and social justice. She is also a founding lead member of The Sankofa Sol Arts Inquiry Collective (SSAIC) and its award-winning storytelling project, The Nanny Project.
