The Space
Our 700 sq ft, sunlit, open-floor studio is located in Cleveland, Ohio’s historic Tremont district. It is an adaptable, sacred space featuring cozy seats, working spiritual altars, reading nooks, and a hospitality station to evoke a feeling of home and creative possibility.
Our Studio Sanctuary: A Soul-Led Space
We believe the creative process is a soul-led practice, and Lillie B’s House is the vessel that holds this practice sacred. Like your grandmother’s living room, kept warm by memory, wisdom, and quiet care, this House welcomes all who seek refuge, resonance, and room to become. We are a "spirit-infused" sanctuary grounded in contemplative wisdom, cultural memory, and ancestral care. Unlike mainstream wellness brands or typical creative arts studios, we prioritize process over product. We are guided by core values like Sacred Continuity, Devotional Creativity, and Intentionality—we move at a “take ya’ time wit’ it” pace.
Our Namesake: Lillie Banks Black Burks
The name “Lillie B’s House (LB’s)” is not just a name; it is a living legacy. It honors Felicia and Courtney’s aunt, Lillie Banks Burks (nee Black). Aunt Lillie B. was a domestic care worker whose quaint home embodied her unique style of hospitality, softness, and quiet strength. That same spirit is what we cultivate here. This legacy lives on in every cushion, every ritual, and every act of care offered within the House. When we talk about our space feeling like "your grandmother's living room," we are channeling the sacred, welcoming home she created.
Generative Residencies (Our Signature Program)
A spirit-infused non-residential residency for 1-8 seekers and makers in the literary, theater, digital, and healing arts. This program famously honors process over product and provides a nurturing vessel for soul-led creative work.
Duration: Offered for 3, 5, or 10 days.
Includes: Full studio access, a tailored welcome ritual, and a 1:1 spiritual companion/consultation session.
The Lillie B's House Fellowship Program
This program hosts one fully funded 5-day artist residency annually to foster cultural equity, ecological stewardship, and contemplative practice. Awarded annually, prioritizing Black female-identifying, Black Trans, nonbinary, and queer artists of color, and to support practitioners in the environmental sciences and contemplative arts.
Sacred Space Rentals
Our 700 sq ft, sunlit studio is available for hourly rental ($68 hr, 2-hour minimum). This space holds 20 people comfortably — perfect for:
Group meetings & co-working
Solo work/rest retreats
Wellness activities (yoga, meditation, Reiki)
Private intimate events
Media productions and photoshoots needing home-like staging

Wisdom-Sharing Workshops & Open Parlors
Wisdom-Sharing Workshops are seasonal and monthly gatherings centered on writing, ritual, reflection, and creativity, such as ancestor veneration or contemplative writing classes.
Our Open Parlors are free, donation-based community gatherings that foster connection in a welcoming, home-like atmosphere.
