What is Lillie B's House?

Lillie B’s House is an intergenerational, Black woman-led creative arts studio and "spirit-infused" sanctuary located in Cleveland’s historic Tremont district.

We are a vital cultural anchor for Black and Brown creatives, thinkers, and seekers to rest, create, and connect with cultural memory. Think of it as a vessel for soul-led creative work, with all the warmth, wisdom, and quiet care of your granny’s living room.

Who is this space for?

Our space and programming are intentionally centered on the needs and experiences of Black and Brown creatives, thinkers, and seekers. We also warmly welcome anyone who respects our mission, our values, and our community-centered, non-extractive presence.

How do I rent the 700 sq ft studio? What's the cost?

The easiest way to rent our sacred space is to book instantly on Peerspace.

Our rate is a value-based, tiered pricing model of $68-$88/hr. Our sunlit, open-floor studio is perfect for wellness activities (yoga, meditation, reiki), intimate events, media productions, photoshoots, and rehearsals.

What is a "Generative Residency"?

This is our signature program for 1-8 makers in the literary, theater, contemplative/healing, and digital arts. It's a 3, 5, or 10-day residency that famously honors process over product. It is a spirit-infused experience that includes studio access, a tailored welcome ritual, and a 1:1 spiritual companion session with Felicia and/or Courtney.

Who was Lillie B?

Lillie B's House (LBs) is named in honor of Lillie Banks Black-Burks, the aunt of our founders, Rev. Dr. Felicia V. Black and Courtney L. Black. Lillie was a domestic care worker whose quaint home embodied the unique spirit of hospitality, softness, and quiet strength that we seek to cultivate in our sanctuary. LB’s is also a nod to Felicia’s family name—Lisa Black—which makes the House a living legacy of care.

What is the Sankofa Sol Arts Inquiry Collective (SSAIC)?

SSAIC is a Black-women led performance inquiry collective founded and led by Felicia and Courtney. It is a sister organization of the House. Its mission is to center the stories of Black and Brown women and their communities, and its award-winning storytelling initiative is The Nanny Project. The SSAIC page on our site documents this important work.

How can I work with Felicia or Courtney individually?

Both Rev. Dr. Black and Courtney Black offer private 1-on-1 services separate from the House's programs (such as spiritual companionship, consulting, or creative direction).

The best way to learn more is to visit their individual bio pages under "Our Keepers," where you can find links to their private inquiry buttons.
