Objects, Association, and Memory: A Generative Writing Workshop with Nardine Taleb
“Every object tells a story. In this two-hour generative workshop, we’ll write about the objects that carry our memories, people, and moments with them. Together, we’ll respond to prompts and read inspiring pieces by Toni Morrison, Nadia Born, George Saunders, and more. Come to write, to be inspired, or to build on work already in progress—everyone is welcome.”
Public Ancestor Ceremony: A Silent Dinner
In honor of this sacred ancestor veneration weekend, join us for a public ceremony to honor and venerate our ancestors. In community, we will create space to remember, offer gratitude, and connect with the wisdom of those who came before us.
Together we will create a powerful and supportive space for collective remembrance.
Whether this is your first ancestor ceremony or you are a regular practitioner, you are welcome! This is a fully guided experience held with care, designed for shared comfort and connection.
Our time together will unfold in three parts:
Ritual: A short ceremony to open our sacred space.
Silence & Food: We will share light refreshments by candlelight, eating in silence to honor our ancestors and receive their wisdom.
Community Circle & Reading: We will close our time with a collective divination reading and community circle to be inspired by our ancestors’ messages of wisdom.
Attire: All Black.
War Ghosts: A Paranormal Evening with Felicia
Join Rev. Doc. Felicia for a night of history and paranormal investigation at the very sites where it all happened. The evening begins with a walk to Camp Cleveland, one of the largest Civil War training camps, just a short 0.4 miles from Lillie B's House. We will immerse ourselves in the history of the soldiers who trained there before they were sent to the front lines.
From there, we'll walk back to Lillie B's House, which sits directly on the former Civil War U.S. General Hospital in Cleveland, where we will hold a paranormal session and delve into the stories of the souls who resided within its walls.
Let the Ancestors Speak: A Journey into Cultural Memory & Sacred Continuity
Class Description The practice of ancestor veneration was the guiding principle in the development of Lillie B’s House itself. Rooted in this mission, our Ancestor Class offers a welcoming, soul-led space to connect with cultural memory and ancestral wisdom. It’s a seasonal offering centered on connection, ritual, reflection, and creativity, designed to help seekers, artists, and creatives flourish and be nurtured.
Together, we will explore the practice of sacred continuity, learning how to live in constant conversation with our people—those here and beyond the veil. This course rejects spirituality trends, instead, focusing on lived practice, deep reflection, and sacred inner work to provide guidance and enrich your life!
